What are the structure, use and maintenance of the theodolite?

The optical theodolite is mainly composed of a base, a sighting unit and a telescope.

First, the base

The base is the base that supports the instrument. The center of the base has a vertical shaft bushing that is attached to the base. The locking screw on the base is used to connect the base and the sighting part. When the instrument is used, it cannot be loosened to prevent the base and the sight from separating and falling off. There are three foot spirals on the base, which are used to level the instrument. The lower center of the base has a nut through which it is screwed to the center on the tripod to secure the instrument to the top surface of the tripod.

Second, the horizontal dial

The horizontal dial is a ring made of optical glass with a score of 0° to 360° for measuring the angle value in the horizontal direction. The center of the dial has a fixed bushing that fits over the base bushing so that the dial can be rotated about the vertical bushing. The control dial rotates the dial brake screw and the micro-motion spiral.

Third, the sighting department

The sighting part is above the base, and the rotating shaft of the sighting part is inserted and rotated in the vertical shaft bushing, and the geometric center line of the rotating shaft is the vertical axis of the instrument. In order to control the rotation of the sighting portion on the horizontal plane, the brake spiral and the fine-motion spiral of the sighting portion are arranged. The main components on the sighting department are telescopes, vertical dials and reading mirrors, which are fixed on the horizontal axis of the instrument and can be rotated in the vertical plane. In order to control the rotational position of the telescope, a telescope braking helix and a micro-motion spiral are arranged. It should be noted that only after the brake screw is braked, its corresponding fretting screw plays a minor adjustment.

In addition, the optical centering device is seen on the optical theodolite, which allows the instrument to be accurately centered. The instrument is also equipped with a leveling device to indicate the level of the instrument. It is an important auxiliary device on measuring instruments such as theodolite.

Method of using theodolite

1) The tripod is adjusted to the same length and is suitable for the operator's height. The instrument is fixed on the tripod so that the base surface of the instrument is parallel to the top surface of the tripod.

2) Place the instrument dance on the station, and estimate the center of the machine. Step on the foot and adjust the optical centering eyepiece (see the crosshair) and the objective lens (see the clearing site). Lift a frame foot forward and backward, swing left and right, and see the centering device to make the intersection of the crosshairs coincide with the test site, stabilize and step on the foot.

3) Telescopic tripod leg length flattening level

4) Level the leveling tube parallel to the two parallel spirals and level the leveling tube.

5) Flatten the sighting section 90 degrees and level the leveling tube with a third spiral.

6) Check the optical alignment. If there is a small amount of deviation, open the connection spiral translation base to make it accurately centered, tighten the connection spiral, and check the level bubble centered.
