CAD+ has made a strong impression on global CAD users with its advanced API interface, support for both the Ribbon and classic interface, powerful capabilities for handling complex tasks, and unique features like gesture wizards. It has earned widespread recognition and praise from designers around the world.
However, a top-tier CAD software must not only excel in design but also ensure smooth file output and compatibility. How does Zhongwang CAD+ perform in this aspect? Let’s explore how to output PLT files using CAD+.
In real-world usage, many designers need to generate PLT files in specific plotter driver formats to import into processing tools like CAM350 or film printers. However, traditional print-to-PLT methods can be inconvenient due to special paper sizes and the need for specific plotter drivers. To address this, we’ll walk through the process of setting up a plotter in Zhongwang CAD+ to generate PLT files.
First, you need to add a virtual printer that supports the desired format via the Plotter Manager. To access it, go to the File menu and click on the "Plotter Manager" button (Figure 1).

This will open the Plotter Manager configuration window (Figure 2). Follow the wizard and click Next to choose the location of the plotter driver (Figure 3).

For example, if using the general LHPGL driver, which is already included in CAD+, select “My Computer†and proceed. Then, choose the output location (Figure 4).

Since you want to generate a PLT file, select “Print to File.†At this point, you can save the settings as a PC5 configuration file for future use (Figure 5).

Next, you may need to set a custom paper size. Use the Plotter Configuration Editor and select “Custom Paper Size†(Figure 7). Choose “Create New Drawing†to define your preferred dimensions (Figure 8).

Adjust the width, height, and units as needed. Then, define the printable area (Figure 9).

Give your custom configuration a name and finish the setup (Figure 10).

Now, when printing, select the configured PC5 file, choose the custom paper size, and check “Print to File†to generate a PLT file compatible with CAM350 and other processing software (Figure 11).

Since its release last year, Zhongwang CAD+ has been widely tested by users globally and has shown excellent performance in terms of stability, speed, and compatibility. Particularly in areas like document output and object capture, it has significantly improved user experience, making design workflows more efficient and convenient. As a result, it has gained widespread trust and positive feedback from users.
