Let’s explore how it handles PLT file output, a common requirement for designers who need to transfer files to processing software like CAM350.
In real-world applications, many designers need to generate PLT files using specific plotter drivers. This is often necessary for integration with film printers or CAM systems. But traditional print-to-PLT methods can be problematic due to special paper sizes and the need for specific drivers. To simplify this process, Zhongwang CAD+ offers an efficient solution through its Plotter Manager.
To begin, open the Plotter Manager from the File menu (see Figure 1). This allows you to add a virtual printer that supports the desired format. Follow the setup wizard, choose the location of the plotter driver (Figure 2), and select a suitable driver like LHPGL, which is already included in the software. Then, set the output destination to "Print to File" (Figure 3) to generate the PLT file.
Zhongwang CAD+ also lets you save your settings as a PC5 configuration file for future use. After setting up the plotter, you can customize paper sizes using the Plotter Configuration Editor (Figure 4). If your project requires non-standard dimensions, you can define a new drawing size and adjust the printable area accordingly (Figures 5 and 6).
Once everything is configured, go to the print dialog, select the PC5 file you created, choose the custom paper size, and enable "Print to File." This will produce a clean PLT file ready for import into CAM350 or other processing software (Figure 7).
