China's building materials products into anti-dumping key strike targets in Australia

According to reports, Australian authorities have further strengthened anti-dumping investigations on Asian products this year to protect domestic manufacturing and employment of workers. China's building materials products continue to be a key target.

Of the 29 anti-dumping investigation notices, report notices, and extension notices issued by the customs in late April, 14 were related to Chinese products. The most common are building materials such as galvanized steel (3637, 10.00, 0.28%), galvanized aluminum steel, hollow steel, seamless steel pipe, extruded aluminum, and hot-rolled steel. The production of steel from South Korea, Japan and Taiwan has also become the target of investigation, but the category is far less than that of China. Thailand was mainly investigated for food. After the Australian Federal Government established a new Anti-Dumping Committee at Customs in March this year, it further strengthened its anti-dumping measures. In recent years, the SBA also frequently applied pressure on the government to strengthen the protection of domestic manufacturing from unfair competition from foreign cheap products, which are the main targets of trade unions and manufacturers accused of dumping.
