PE storage tanks are primarily used for storing acid, base, and salt solutions. Due to the hazardous nature of these liquids, tank design plays a critical role in ensuring safety and durability. As an engineer with several years of experience in tank design, I’ve gathered some key considerations that should not be overlooked when designing these systems.
First, the rib density: The tighter the ribs, the stronger the tank structure. This is logical, but it’s important to note that overdesigning—such as using 30-ton ribs in a 1-ton PE tank—is not only impractical but also leads to unnecessary cost increases. The rib density must be determined based on the actual pressure the tank will endure. Safety should always come first, but efficiency and cost-effectiveness should also be considered.
Second, the base area of the tank: Many users worry about the stability of the tank during installation. As a manufacturer, we ensure that the tank is built with a solid foundation and proper weight distribution. A well-designed base prevents tipping and ensures safe operation, even under full load conditions.
Third, the installation of accessories: The inlet and outlet ports are crucial for the long-term performance of the tank. Proper placement and angle of these components can significantly extend the life of the fittings and prevent damage caused by improper flow direction. Incorrect positioning may lead to operational difficulties and even structural stress on the tank itself.
In addition to these factors, material quality, environmental conditions, and maintenance access should also be taken into account. A well-thought-out design not only enhances performance but also reduces long-term costs and improves user satisfaction.
