Do not underestimate the cable on the crane

It is essential to use a shielded cable for the connection between the drive and the motor. The routing of the cables, as well as the control lines from the inverter to the motor, must strictly follow the specifications to prevent electromagnetic interference. The cross-sectional area of the wire must meet requirements for heat generation, acceptable voltage drop, mechanical strength, and the impedance needed for single-phase short circuits. The wire size inside the cabinet should be no less than 1.5 mm², while the cable diameter between cabinets must be at least 2.5 mm². All installations should comply with relevant standards: A. Electrical enclosures such as junction boxes and distribution panels should be made of stainless steel with a thickness of at least 2 mm, and they should have an IP41 protection rating. B. Flame-retardant protective coils should be used at the entry and exit points of cables when they pass through wire frames, junction boxes, or power distribution cabinets. C. Each motor should be wired independently, without sharing a common circuit. D. Control and communication cables should include 20–25% spare cores to allow for future expansion or maintenance. E. Where there is relative movement between components like motors, brakes, limit switches, and pipelines or conduits due to vibration or bending, cables should be protected by metal hoses. However, these metal hoses should not be grounded. Cables must not be placed on moving parts of the equipment or along walkways. Fixed cables should be installed within concealed metal cable trays or hot-dip galvanized steel pipes. The cable tray must be made of hot-dip galvanized material or aluminum alloy and must be strong enough to support the load. Low-voltage and control cables should be layered appropriately. Both conduits and trays should be bolted, not welded directly. F. The bending radius of the cable should not be less than six times its outer diameter, and the conduit’s bending radius should not be less than eight times its outer diameter. A watertight insulation sleeve should be added at the conduit connections to prevent damage to the conductors. No connectors should be present inside the conduits, and wires from different circuits must be run in separate conduits. Communication cables must be shielded. G. The core wires of multi-core cables should be clearly identified by color or numbering. All joint areas must have permanent terminal sleeves, and transparent heat-shrinkable tubing should be used to cover the joints, with the terminal number marked. These markings should match those on the circuit diagrams. By following these guidelines, you ensure safe, reliable, and compliant electrical installations that meet industry standards and reduce the risk of failures or hazards.
