RFID Tag Tracks Drug Authenticity in Supply Chain

SecureRF announced that it has received funding from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Phase 2 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR). The funds will be used to develop a secure, passive RFID tag that will be attached to US pharmaceuticals to track supply. chain.

SecureRF will receive a $500,000 sponsorship to develop RFID tags for tracking the authenticity and integrity of the drugs in the supply chain.

The U.S. National Science Foundation sponsors this project to crack down on counterfeit drugs, which have annual sales of up to US$40 billion in the global market.

The RFID tags developed by SecureRF will be used for drug certification and data protection to ensure the integrity of the drug information and the authenticity of the product. Potential customers for this technology include drug makers, drug distributors, drug wholesalers, and pharmacies.
