C. Use a sharp object like a knife or key to scratch the surface of the tile. If visible scratches appear, the tile’s surface is not durable enough. Once the glaze is worn off, cleaning becomes more difficult and the tile may look worse over time.
D. Examine the color of the tile. If the colors are vibrant, natural, and consistent, it shows high-quality porcelain. If the colors are dull or unclear, it could mean lower quality or poor manufacturing.
E. When buying tiles, inspect the surface closely within one meter using your naked eye. Look for pinholes or tiny imperfections. If you see them, it suggests that the glaze wasn’t fully fused, which can lead to dirt buildup and affect the tile’s longevity.
F. Check for warping by looking at the edges of the tile with your eyes. If the sides are not straight or if there is noticeable bending, it may cause problems in the future, such as uneven installation or reduced durability.
G. Test the squareness of the tile by placing four tiles on the floor and randomly switching their sides. If the gaps between them are even and the cross lines align well, it means the tiles are well-made and uniform.
H. To check the flatness, place two tiles face-to-face and try rotating one. If it spins easily, it means the surface is uneven. A perfectly flat tile should not rotate smoothly when placed against another.
