Characteristics and main uses of foamed aluminum

Foam is a collection of air bubbles and aluminum diaphragms. The irregularity and three-dimensional nature of bubbles make it possess many excellent characteristics.

A light

The density of foam aluminum is about 1/5 to 1/10 of pure aluminum, 1/20 of that of iron, and 1/4 of that of wood and plastic.

B sound-absorbing performance

The sound absorption characteristics of foam aluminum are: diffuse reflection occurs after the sound enters the aluminum foam, mutual interference, so that the sound energy is converted into heat energy, so that the noise is weakened. Compared with other sound-absorbing materials, foamed aluminum has excellent low-frequency absorption properties. Foam aluminum is added with a cavity of a certain size, and the sound absorption effect is better, and can be applied in a wider frequency range. For example, the wall surface before the sound-absorbing treatment is a very hard cement, and the foam aluminum sound-absorbing noise can be reduced by 17 db after the indoor sound-absorbing and noise-reducing treatment is performed on the aluminum foam with a thickness of 10 mm.

C Foam Aluminum Acoustic Performance

Aluminum foam can be compounded with other soundproofing materials. Due to the sound absorbing effect of aluminum foam, the sound insulation effect can be further improved.

D Foam aluminum fire resistance

Foam aluminum has good fire resistance. The melting point of aluminum is 660°C. The aluminum foam starts to soften at 800°C (because it cannot bear its own weight), but it has not melted yet. Aluminum foam will not be deformed even when exposed to high temperatures of 780°C without external force, which means that aluminum foam can withstand higher temperatures than normal sound absorbing materials. In addition, aluminum foam is an incombustible material that does not produce harmful gases like plastics and other materials.

E Electromagnetic Shielding Properties of Aluminum Foam

Foam aluminum has excellent electromagnetic shielding properties, and both sound-absorbing properties. Therefore, the foamed aluminum plate is more suitable for use in the production of ceilings and walls of electrical equipment rooms and is used as an electromagnetic shielding material.

F buffer effect is good

When foamed aluminum is compressed to its yield point, the bubble diaphragm deforms, continuously deforms layer by layer, and the air bubble breaks, resulting in a great compression deformation, which absorbs impact energy and exhibits a good cushioning effect.

G Foam Aluminium Low Thermal Conductivity

The thermal conductivity of foamed aluminum is very low, only 1/60~1/500 of pure aluminum, and the coefficient of linear expansion is comparable to that of pure aluminum.

H foam aluminum processing

Aluminum foam is easy to machine, such as cutting, drilling, bending and embossing. Saw can be used to cut foam aluminum into aluminum foams of different sizes and sizes. It is easy to drill and rivet aluminum foam. It can also bend and emboss aluminum foam. It can also use adhesive to make foam aluminum. Stick to each other to bond aluminum foam.

I Easy construction

Thanks to its lightweight aluminum foam, it can be installed manually, making it particularly suitable for ceilings, walls, roofs, etc. Due to the ease of processing, it can be bonded and riveted, making it easy to connect with other structures. Therefore, it is convenient for on-site construction and installation.

J surface decoration effect is good

With a special process, the aluminum foam surface can be completely coated with paint. Coating hardly damages the sound absorption effect of aluminum foam.

K can be used as a sandwich

Aluminum foil, aluminum foil, titanium foil, etc. are bonded to both sides of the foam to form a sandwich panel. It is a lightweight, high-strength sheet that can be used as a structural material with excellent properties.

The main purpose of foam aluminum

Because foam aluminum has a series of characteristics, it has a wide range of applications, mainly used in the following areas:

(1) sound-absorbing materials, suitable for sound-absorbing materials such as factories, mines, highways, tunnels, and sound.

(2) Building materials, suitable for ceilings, walls, etc. as ultra-lightweight architectural decoration materials.

(3) Structural materials, which are composited with metal plates to form sandwich plates, can be used as floor materials, wall materials, roofing materials for aircrafts, automobiles, trains and buildings, and also as furniture plates and shock-absorbing plates.

(4) Electromagnetic shielding materials, such as the wall of the computer room, ceiling, electronic equipment shell materials, electronic command interior decoration, TV station launch center interior decoration and so on.
