The transformation of scientific and technological achievements has enabled superhard materials companies to break through the trend

Abstract Recently, reporters from the Laiwu Municipal Science and Technology Bureau learned that in 2012, the bureau actively encouraged local enterprises to collaborate with domestic and international high-tech companies and research institutions. This initiative led to the successful development of 111 scientific and technological achievements, with 65 of them being transformed into marketable products. By September 2012, the city’s high-tech industry had achieved an output value of 18.23 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year growth of 39.65%, which ranked first in the province. High-tech enterprises not only maintained steady growth but also showed resilience during challenging times.

Despite the progress, many enterprises still faced challenges such as limited talent pools, weak research capabilities, and inadequate innovation capacity. To address these issues, the Laiwu Municipal Science and Technology Bureau has been promoting independent innovation through enhanced cooperation, policy support, and financial incentives since last year. As a result, 57 high-tech enterprises have received support, with companies like Xinyi Products and Lichuang Technology emerging as key players in their respective industries through continuous innovation and integration.

In the heat treatment workshop of Shandong Black Cyclone Saw Industry, workers are carefully deburring the saw blade substrate. Zhang Xianwei, a staff member, explained: “Don’t underestimate the base of the saw blade. This product was developed just this year, and it produces about 300 pieces per month, each worth around 500 yuan. The price is more than 100 times higher than similar products.”

From composite muffler saw blade bases to high-performance carbide and polycrystalline diamond circular saw blades, Shandong Black Cyclone Saw Co., Ltd. has consistently introduced new products, all of which are now in large-scale production. “Without innovation, it's hard for a company to survive in today's competitive market,” said Zhang Xianwei. Relying on technological advancement, the company’s annual sales revenue grew from 70 million yuan in 2010 to 120 million yuan by now. In 2012 alone, the company paid nearly 12 million yuan in taxes. The company’s manager expressed gratitude: “The higher the technical content of our products, the less impact we feel during economic downturns. We will continue to invest in R&D and let technology drive our business forward.”
