Fans inside computer cases often start to make more noise over time. This is usually due to bearing wear in the fan, especially when the bearing lacks lubrication. As the bearing hole becomes worn, the gap between the shaft and the bearing increases. Additionally, excessive axial play can cause the fan blade to move back and forth by a few millimeters. When the fan rotates, it may move axially and cause the blade plane to wobble, which not only worsens the wear but also creates a lot of noise.
Most fan issues are caused by this kind of bearing degradation. While replacing the fan with a new one is the most straightforward solution, it's not always the best option for DIY enthusiasts. Also, finding an exact replacement can be challenging.
However, this type of faulty fan is not beyond repair. Here’s a simple method to fix it using materials you might already have at home—like a small piece of aluminum can and some clean butter (make sure it's free of impurities).
### Steps to Repair Fan Bearing Wear:
1. **Clean the Fan**: Remove dust from the fan to prevent it from entering the bearing during reassembly.
2. **Remove the Seal**: Take off the self-adhesive seal on the bearing and remove the bayonet on the shaft.
3. **Clean the Bearing**: Wipe out any old oil or residue from the bearing using a soft cloth or tissue, and clean the shaft thoroughly.
4. **Apply Butter**: Put a small amount of clean butter into the bearing. Be careful not to use too much, as it could affect the fan’s speed.
5. **Create a Shim**: Cut a small piece of aluminum from a can, making sure it fits snugly around the bearing pin. Drill a small hole in the center so that it can slide over the shaft. Place this shim between the bearing and the bayonet to reduce axial movement. If the gap is large, add a few layers of the shim to keep the bearing movement under 0.5mm.
6. **Reassemble**: Reattach the oil seal, add a little more butter, and put the fan back together. Make sure all screws and nuts are tightened properly.
After reassembling, power on the fan. You should notice a significant reduction in noise. With proper care, this repair can last up to two years. However, keep in mind that because of the limited precision in the process, the fan’s speed might decrease slightly.

Aluminium Casement Windows
Aluminum alloy casement window is a common type of window with the following characteristics:
1. Structural characteristics
Frame
The frame is made of aluminum alloy profiles, which have the advantages of light weight, high strength and corrosion resistance. Its cross-sectional shape is diverse and can be selected according to different design requirements and stress conditions to ensure the stability of the window.
Opening method
The window sash is connected to the window frame through hinges and can be opened outward or inward. The outward opening type does not occupy indoor space and has a wide field of vision, but has higher requirements for the sealing and safety of the window; the inward opening type is convenient for cleaning the outside of the window, but it will occupy a certain amount of indoor space.
2. Performance characteristics
Good sealing
When the casement window is closed, the window sash fits tightly with the window frame, and with high-quality sealing strips, it can effectively prevent rain, dust and noise from entering the room. Its sealing performance is better than that of sliding windows, which can better maintain the indoor environmental quality.
Good ventilation
The opening angle can be adjusted according to needs to achieve good ventilation effect. Some casement windows can also be equipped with limit devices to control the opening angle to ensure safety while achieving ventilation.
Strong security
Hardware accessories such as hinges and locks can provide better security. If the outward-opening casement window adopts a multi-point lock system, it can effectively prevent the window sash from being pried open by external force; the inward-opening casement window is easy to operate indoors, and the safety can also be enhanced by adding guardrails.
3. Aesthetics and durability
Aesthetics
Aluminum alloy profiles can be subjected to a variety of surface treatments, such as anodizing, powder coating, fluorocarbon coating, etc., which can present different colors and textures, and can match various architectural styles to enhance the overall aesthetics of the building.
Durability
Aluminum alloy itself has good corrosion resistance and is not easy to rust. With proper maintenance, its service life is long. However, the quality of hardware accessories has a greater impact on the overall durability of the window. High-quality hardware accessories can ensure the long-term and stable use of the window.
