How to use acetamiprid
Acetamiprid is a widely used insecticide known for its effectiveness in controlling sucking pests. As a systemic pesticide, it works by interfering with the nervous system of insects, specifically targeting nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This action disrupts nerve signal transmission, leading to paralysis and eventual death of the pest. Acetamiprid is particularly useful for managing aphids, thrips, whiteflies, and other similar pests on a variety of crops including fruits, vegetables, and rice.
The application method and concentration of acetamiprid vary depending on the crop and the type of pest being targeted. For instance, at concentrations of 50-100 mg/L, it can effectively control cotton aphids, rape meal, and peach fruitworms. At higher concentrations, such as 500 mg/L, it is also effective against light moths, orange moths, and pear fruitworms, and can even kill eggs.
When applying acetamiprid, it's important to follow the recommended dilution rates based on the formulation. Common dilutions include 3% emulsifiable concentrate diluted 2,000–3,000 times, or 5% formulations diluted 2,500–3,000 times. For smaller crops like vegetables and grains, a general recommendation is to apply 1.5–2 grams of active ingredient per 667 square meters, mixed with 30–60 liters of water for even coverage.
Here are some specific usage guidelines:
1. **Vegetable Aphids**: Spray 1000–1500 times diluted 3% acetamiprid emulsifiable concentrate during the early stages of infestation. It remains effective for over 15 days, even in rainy conditions.
2. **Fruit Trees (e.g., Jujube, Apple, Pear, Peach)**: Use 2000–2500 times diluted 3% acetamiprid emulsifiable concentrate. It provides quick knockdown and lasts up to 20 days.
3. **Citrus Aphids**: Apply 2000–2500 times diluted 3% acetamiprid emulsifiable concentrate. It shows excellent efficacy without causing phytotoxicity when used correctly.
4. **Cotton, Tobacco, Peanuts**: Spraying 2000 times diluted 3% acetamiprid emulsifiable concentrate in the early stages of aphid infestation gives good results.
5. **Whiteflies**: During the seedling stage, use 1000–1500 times diluted 3% acetamiprid. In the adult stage, 1500–2000 times diluted solution achieves over 95% control. Even during harvest, 4000–5000 times diluted solution maintains more than 80% effectiveness without affecting product quality.
6. **Thrips on Vegetables**: Apply 1500 times diluted 3% acetamiprid emulsifiable concentrate during the larval stage. This achieves over 90% control.
7. **Rice Planthoppers**: When nymphs appear, spray 1000 times diluted 3% acetamiprid emulsifiable concentrate. The control effect exceeds 90%.
Proper application ensures maximum effectiveness while minimizing environmental impact. Always read and follow the label instructions before using any pesticide.
