Anhui quality supervision department spot checks three kinds of safety helmets are not safe

In recent news, the Anhui Provincial Bureau of Quality Supervision released the results of a provincial inspection on safety helmets and safety nets. Several types of safety helmets were found to have potential safety issues, raising concerns among consumers and industry professionals. A total of 25 samples from 25 different companies were tested during the inspection. Out of these, 22 passed the tests, resulting in an overall pass rate of 88%. Among them, 12 samples of dense-eye safety nets achieved a perfect 100% pass rate. However, when it came to hard hats, 13 samples were tested, with only 10 passing, giving a pass rate of 76.9%. Several companies and products were listed on the "Quality Black List" due to their non-compliance with safety standards. These include the "Yanshan" brand ordinary safety helmets (made of glass fiber-reinforced plastic) produced by Tianchang Yishan Protective Products Co., Ltd. in October 2012, as well as the "Fu Shi" brand ordinary safety helmets (also made of glass fiber-reinforced plastic) manufactured by Futian Safety Protective Products Limited in the same month. Additionally, Hefei Yongan Lighting Equipment Co., Ltd. was also cited for producing ordinary safety helmets (ABS material) in October 2012. The first two products failed the puncture resistance test, while the third one did not meet the impact absorption performance requirements. The quality supervision department has issued a reminder to the public, advising individuals to choose safety helmets based on the specific industry and working environment. For instance, general construction helmets are suitable for construction sites, but workers in the power industry should use specialized (insulated) safety helmets. In flammable or explosive environments, safety helmets with lateral rigidity and anti-static features are recommended. Large-brimmed helmets are ideal for outdoor work, offering protection from sunlight and rain, while smaller or rimless helmets are better suited for confined spaces such as tunnels, wells, forests, and scaffolding, where collisions with the brim are more likely. Consumers are encouraged to pay close attention to product certifications and safety standards when purchasing safety equipment to ensure their protection in various working conditions.
