April has always been the month of rapid growth in paint production every year. However, according to the latest statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics, in April 2015, there were 1,319 paint companies above designated size in China, and total paint production was 1,397,600 tons, which was a decrease of 4.95% year-on-year and negative growth for the first time in 13 months.
From January to April 2015, the total output of paint in China was 4.839 million tons. The year-on-year increase in the total output of the paint industry decreased from 8.25% in the first quarter to 3.9% in January-April. Of which, Guangdong Province produced 884,400 tons of paint, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%. Jiangsu Province produced 616,300 tons of paint, an increase of 4.8% year-on-year, and Shanghai's paint production of 576,200 tons, an increase of 7.1% year-on-year.
Compared with data from 2015, the monthly growth rate of total national paint production was respectively 11.88% in January-February, 3.78% in March, and -4.95% in April. The growth rate showed a linear decline. From the perspective of changes in paint production in various regions of the country, there were 8 provinces with a decline of more than 10% in April 2015. The output of paint in Liaoning province fell the most, reaching 33.5%, followed by Hebei, Tianjin, Gansu, Hainan, Guizhou, Guangdong and Shanghai. It is worth noting that the major provinces of Guangdong, Shanghai and Hebei are all in the paint.
China's paint industry will face full coverage of the consumption tax on paints, the continuous increase in environmental protection pressure, the weak real estate market, the sluggish manufacturing industry, and the continuous decline in export data. The situation in 2015 is not optimistic.
